Learn about finance and the way people use and spend money.

 

Part 1:

You will be asked 8 questions. For questions 1-4, you will have 10 seconds to speak. For questions 5-8, you will have 20 seconds to speak. Please speak for all of the time you have.

Part 1: answer the questions with a full answer (10-20 seconds)

  4. Should everyone save some money each month?
  5. Do you get by well on your salary?

You will see 8 sentences on the screen. You will have 10 seconds to read each sentence aloud after the tone.

Part 2: read these phrases aloud

  2. What´s the best way of spending your spare money?
  3. I can get by easily in my salary
  4. I love my new computer, but to be honest, it cost me a fortune
  5. I can´t help buying myself a treat every now and again
  6. I work hard so that I can get all of the nice things that I want to buy
  7. I earn such a small amount, fortunately, I am not very materialistic
  8. The last time a wasted a large sum of money I cried for several days

 

Part 3:

You will have 1 minute to talk about a topic. First you have 40 seconds to read the task and prepare what you have to say. You will have 1 minute to speak. Please speak for all of the time you have.

Part 3: talk for one minute about this topic

Salaries today are much worse than they were 10 years ago and this can cause many social issues

  • Housing
  • Starting a family
  • Choice of leisure activities

 

Part 4:

You will have one minute to leave a message for an English speaking friend about some information. First you have 1 minute to look at the information and prepare what you are going to say. You will have one minute to leave your message. The visual information will stay on the screen. Please speak for all of the time you have.

The minimum wage of a country is usually used as a measure of a country’s economic prosperity. Why is it important for people to have enough money to get by?

Large corporations have more and more power in this day and age and this causes problems for workers and this makes it harder for people to have good jobs and salaries. talk about:

  • housing
  • working hours
  • living costs

  2. Is it easy to live with a normal salary nowadays?
  3. Is it more difficult to buy a house now than it was 20 years ago?
  4. What should people do to make sure they get a good job?
  5. Would you rather work for a private company or have a public job?
