Learn about jobs and our working lives.

 

Part 1:

You will be asked 8 questions. For questions 1-4, you will have 10 seconds to speak. For questions 5-8, you will have 20 seconds to speak. Please speak for all of the time you have.

Part 1: answer the questions with a full answer (10 – 20 seconds)

  1. What do you do for a living?
  2. Do you work full-time or part-time?
  3. What would you like to do in the future?
  4. Is it easy to find a good work-life balance?
  5. Have you ever had a dead-end job?
  6. What might encourage you to accept a job abroad?
  7. Is it normal to have a part time job when you are young in your country?
  8. Some people develop an addiction to work, would you say that this is a common scenario nowadays?

 

Part 2:

You will see 8 sentences on the screen. You will have 10 seconds to read each sentence aloud after the tone.

Part 2: read these phrases aloud

  1. I want to work online in the future
  2. I enjoy my job as I am able to be creative
  3. What do you do for a living?
  4. Having a job that you really enjoy is what it means to be successful
  5. I am currently unemployed and looking for a job

Part 3:

You will have 1 minute to talk about a topic. First you have 40 seconds to read the task and prepare what you have to say. You will have 1 minute to speak. Please speak for all of the time you have.

Part 3: talk for one minute about this topic

What influences people to choose the job or career that they do?

  • Working hours

 

Part 4:

You will have one minute to leave a message for an English speaking friend about some information. First you have 1 minute to look at the information and prepare what you are going to say. You will have one minute to leave your message. The visual information will stay on the screen. Please speak for all of the time you have.

Youth unemployment (18-25) is a huge problem in Europe and this is making it extremely difficult to find a job. What can be done to help young people join the job market?

It is said that Millennials (born 1984 onwards) are entitled and difficult to manage. But do you think that this is a generalisation? Talk about
